Olly's is the new snack brand that joins Primar Ibérica’s portfolio in this first quarter of 2023

It all started in 2016 when medical student Olly Hiscocks dropped out of university to go on an adventure with an olive stall in the West London market. The idea went so well and he got so many customers that he soon launched flat pretzels in different flavors. 

His brother Sam joined the business and together with a team of brilliant figures, they reached more than 20,000 points of sale in 5 years. Olly Hiscocks was a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year in 2020 and ranked in the Top 10 Best New Entrepreneurial Talents in 2019.

The secret of success?

It is not only about taking advantage of the growing trend in healthy and original snacks within the category, but about knowing how to offer a different, tasty product with many virtues, which is already found on the 5 continents. The snack sector grew by 10% between 2022 and 2021, especially in consumption out of home, and it is estimated that it will grow by 23% until 2025.

A vast majority of consumers are willing to try new products and market launches. 59% of them, consume motivated by health, an important factor that Olly's takes into account. After the pandemic, habits have changed and currently the Pollock Communications & Today's Dietitian What's Trending in Nutrition studies conclude that the priorities for consumers are:

  • Affordable and value product (70%)
  • Easy and convenient accessibility (59%)
  • Immune help

For its part, Mintel gives the highest growth within the snacks category to salty snacks. It also shows that salty snacks more specifically meet the emotional needs of consumers, with more than two-thirds choosing snacks to relax or satisfy a whim (67%), surpassing hunger as a motivator (58%).

According to Nielsen data in 2022, Olly's is the fastest growing pretzel brand in the UK. As Food Dive says, pretzels are the most inventive and most exciting category in the snack category.

Olly's are the thinnest, healthiest, and crunchiest flat pretzels on the market. Baked, light and vegan, they are the healthy alternative to fried snacks. Combines the two main drivers of the snack world: health and flavor. 

  • Health because it's baked, not fried. And it contains less fat (-80%), fewer calories (-45%), and more protein than a regular chip. 

  • Flavor because they are made with wonderful vegan dressings that have already won countless awards. The 5 flavors of the launch are the original salty, with sesame seeds, sour cream and onion, sweet chili and cheese.

Olly's collaborates with Nest, an NGO that does incredible work supporting women in underprivileged areas to start their own businesses and be self-sufficient and independent.
